The Agricultural Programs and Resources (APR) Division monitors, analyzes, and disseminates information to influence policy decisions. These decisions affect viability of agriculture and sustainability of New Mexico’s natural resources. Staff provides technical and administrative resources and planning assistance to soil and water conservation districts and the agricultural industry.
NMDA administers various state laws and rules to protect New Mexico’s environment and natural resources while utilizing programs including:
- Acequia and Community Ditch Fund
- Agricultural Workforce Development Program
- Healthy Soil Program
- Noxious Weed Information
- Rangeland and Grazing Issues (including Farm and Range Improvement Fund Activities)
- Soil and Water Conservation Programs
- Water and Natural Resources Policy (including Watershed Protection, Endangered Species, Wildlife, and participation on the Water Trust Board and in the Governor’s Climate Task Force working with other agencies on the Natural and Working Lands Climate Action Team)
